มีการแชร์คลิปวิดีโอภาษาเขมร (มั้ง) วิธีการที่ชาวบ้านถอนขนเป็ด (ในโพสต์เขียนว่า ไก่ แต่ดูยังไงมันก็เป็ด) ด้วยการเอาเป็ดไปจุ่มในน้ำสารเคมีสีดำที่ต้มอยู่ แล้วเอาไปแช่น้ำเย็นอีกที ก่อนจะลอกแผ่นสีดำๆ ออก ... คนแชร์กันไปเป็นหมื่นพร้อมกับลือกันว่ามันเป็น ยางมะตอย จะเป็นอันตรายต่อผู้บริโภคมั้ย ... ไม่ใช่นะ มันเป็นแค่กาวถอนขนเป็ด ถอนขนไก่
จริงๆ เรื่องทำนองนี้ เคยมีคนตั้งข้อสงสัยมาก่อนแล้ว ดูจากในกระทู้พันทิป (https://pantip.com/topic/32160467) ที่มีคนเจอยางดำๆ เหนียวๆ ติดมากับเป็ดที่ซื้อมา แล้วก็สงสัยกันว่าเป็นยางมะตอยหรือเปล่า ... ก็มีคนมาให้ข้อมูลกันมากเลยว่า จริงๆ มันแค่ กาวถอนขน เท่านั้น ชาวบ้านใช้กันมาหลายสิบปีแล้ว และไม่น่าจะทำจากยางมะตอย (ไม่งั้นมีกลิ่นเหม็นติดไปแน่ๆ ) ...ส่วนถ้าเป็นระดับอุตสาหกรรม เค้าจะมีเครื่องช่วยถอนขนเป็ดขนไก่ทีละเยอะๆ ต่างหาก
แต่จริงๆ แล้วกาวที่ใช้นั้น ควรจะเป็นสีออกเหลืองๆ เอามาละลายด้วยความร้อนอย่างที่เห็น ... ถ้าสีออกดำอย่างนี้ แสดงว่าใช้ซ้ำมาหลายรอบแล้ว จนมันเปลี่ยนสภาพ (ซึ่งก็ไม่น่าใช้ต่อนะ)
ส่วนที่ว่าปลอดภัยหรือเปล่า ทางเจ้าหน้าที่ของ อ.ย. ก็มาช่วยตอบกระทู้ไว้ว่า
"จากข้อมูลในปัจจุบันกาวที่ใช้ถอนขนเป็ดไม่มีในรายการวัตถุเจือปนอาหารที่ได้รับอนุญาตจากสำนักงานคณะกรรมการอาหารและยา"
และ
"กรณีผู้ผลิตอาหารมีการนำ กาว/วัตถุเจือปนอาหารที่ไม่ได้รับอนุญาตไปใช้ จะมีความผิดแล้วแต่กรณี เช่น อาหารนั้นอาจเป็นอาหารไม่บริสุทธ์หรืออาหารผิดมาตรฐานแล้วแต่กรณี"

ซึ่งก็ไม่ได้มีข้อมูลอะไรเพิ่มเติมต่อมานะว่าไปประสานงานกันได้ความว่าอะไร
สรุปว่า ถึงคลิปนี้จะเป็นคลิปถอนขนเป็ดในต่างประเทศ แต่ก็น่าจะมีการใช้กาวถอนขนในไทยนี้ด้วย โดยก็ไม่มีใครที่บอกว่ามันจะอันตราย (แต่ถ้าใช้ซ้ำๆ จนดำปี๊อย่างนี้ ก็ดูไม่ค่อยน่ามั่นใจเหมือนกัน)
